FAQ

Plantable seed paper is 100% biodegradable eco-paper made with post-consumer and post-industrial paper waste that is embedded with seeds. Therefore, no trees are harmed for this paper! When the paper is planted in a pot of soil, wildflowers will grow and the paper will compost away.

Our seed paper is proudly handmade in Canada.

It's so easy, anyone can do it! Place your seed paper on soil that is slightly compressed, and not too hard-packed. Add about 1/8" of soil on top of the paper and give it a good drink of water. Place it in a sunny spot and make sure it’s always moist. See below illustration for details!

Our plantable seed cards can be planted indoors or outside, so you can choose according to the temperature and conditions at the time of planting.

You may plant indoors year-round in a pot of soil near a window that gets plenty of sunlight. For outdoor, Spring is the best time to plant if you live in an area where the ground does not freeze, otherwise plant during Fall if you live in a climate where the ground stay frozen for several months.

We do not recommend planting outside if it’s blizzarding or desert-hot!

Here are the top 3  things you need to do:

  1. Plant it under a very thin layer of soil - only 1/8 of an inch.
  2. Keep it moist during germination and ensure there is good drainage. Don’t let the water pool.
  3. Wildflowers love the sun! Ensure your planted pot gets plenty of sunlight.

If you follow the steps illustrated here, you should see sprouts within 7-14 days!

For best germination results, we recommend planting your card within two years of purchase since germination rates will decline beyond that period. Store in a cool and dry place to best preserve the germination rates.

Our seedpaper contains a mixture of wild flower seed types:

Absolutely! The inks used for printing are water-based, and the dyes in the ink are organic and readily decompose. Soil testing were carried out with ALS Environmental (one of the largest environmental laboratories in the world) and found that the soil in which the printed piece was planted easily met CCME (Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment) guidelines.
